Home Farm at Speke Hall

Logic halved the £22,000 quote given by another company and won the contract to bring heating efficiency to Home Farm at Speke Hall in Liverpool.

The Home Farm at Speke Hall is a delightful National Trust property dating from 1885. Originally designed as a ‘model farm’ the Home Farm building was transformed into a Visitor Centre for Speke Hall in 2001. The only problem was that the heating bills were enormous because the original domestic boilers had been swapped out with two industrial gas boilers, but they were wired in very simply, without any means of control they were running all the time. The National Trust were keen to improve energy efficiency and reduce their heating bill.

Logic's competitive edge is specialist Control Panel Technician, Brian Faulder. Brian helped give National Trust staff fine control of their gas boilers at Home Farm with the installation of a bespoke and highly sophisticated control panel. "It has to be simple to use, but sophisticated in effect" he explains.

Logic achieved further savings for the client by insulating pipes, lagging valves and installing immersion heater timers. Brian Faulder said "This job has been very satisfying. The National Trust is saving our heritage. Logic is saving the National Trust energy and money."
